Well said. I am sooo sick of kids running the show, but being protected from everything along the way as well? I guess now at kids' b-day parties, the new thing is that the feted child cannot open the gifts while the party is going on. It might hurt other kids' feelings!! God forbid they should suffer the feeling of envy. So, instead, all the presents get opened afterwards, and thank you notes are sent, like people do in a wedding.

Is that really happening, or is just your worst fear, Helen? It wouldn't surprise me. A friend of mine lives in the Boulder area, and she said the parents had to bring placards to show the score from the stands because the schools thought it was wrong to have scoring at a ball game.
