I guess we got the government we deserve. When our elected officials vote on a bill based upon its title without bothering to read the actual text, no wonder crap gets made into law.
When the intellectually slumbering citizenry agrees that 'sobriety checkpoints' are a good thing, never mind that the vast majority (easily on the order of 1000:1) of prosecutions are for non-alcohol related crimes (such as expired tags, busted headlights, missing child support, blah, blah), no wonder we get thinks like "zero tolerance" and "preemptive arrest" alcohol laws which do nothing to curb drunk driving.
The "patriot act" was sold as a necessary tool for law enforcement to combat terrorism--without the act, we'd all be dead, right? Funny how it seems that the vast majority of times it gets invoked are for non-terrorism-related "crimes."
Since the terrorists hate us for our liberties, good thing our government is getting rid of them as fast as it can. Viva the State!
