National Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month. I will not be presenting a poem a day as I did last year, but will, from time to time throughout the month, feature poems and information about poetry.

National Poetry Month was established ten years ago by the Academy of American Poets. Every April, there are multiple readings throughout the country to celebrate poetry. You may also ask the Academy to email you a poem every day in April (you must first register with the Academy). All of the emailed poems will be from new books published this spring.

The Worldwide Web is filled with poetry. Some good sites to get you started are: Poetry Super Highway, Verse Daily, Poets Against War, and Poetry Daily.

Here is a poem by Matthew Arnold.
