Mugabe and American hunters

Here is what one American woman does on her vacation. And here is why she is allowed to do it.

The woman's name is Catherine Buchanan... she's an American (of course). Company's email is: buffalo@africaonline.co.zw
Let'em know what bastards they are!

I would like to spray paint her, but she wouldn't seem to mind...she's got blood dripping all over her.

To answer your question--quite a bit.

Distaste about big-game hunting aside, the objections are two-fold: That many Americans are also freely killing endangered animals as well as the ones set aside for them to hunt; and that they are hunting on lands that were taken, sometimes through violence, from non-white farmers.

Those two things alone make these Americans criminals and white exploiters, not "conservationists."

I've given quite a bit, as well, and have also spent hours signing petitions to keep creeps like Cathering Buchanan from slaughtering our wildlife.

It's really grotesque that these people are allowed to poach. I understand why; but what the hell are Americans doing poaching in Africa??

Well, I'm going to write to them & express my displeasure. Thanks, Diane, for bringing this to my attention.

"Litty" needs to get his/her facts straight before making such sweeping generalizations, methinks.

Good lord. I looked up Catherine Buchanan, and found this:

I am literally sick to my stomach.

By Blogger Unknown, at 12:50 PM

It's pretty sickening.

I have never even begun to understand what is "fun" or "sporting" about killing something. The bloodlust runs high in humans, however.

Just think, if we continue to evolve (which I doubt, because I think we will have destroyed the Earth by then), eventually, the Catherine Buchanans will be big game and will be hanging from meat hooks.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:07 PM

Now, THAT would be poetic justice.

Yes, I agree we don't have much time to evolve. We had our chance, and screwed it up good.

I can't understand that sort of bloodlust. It really amazes me that it's so rampant.

These big game hunters are doing more then any of you to conserve the wildlife, and feed the starving africans. The money they pay to hunt goes towards preservation and population control and the care of these animals. And after the hunts, the meat is given to the trappers and their families, and starving africans living in the area. The americans featured in this article are not poachers. They are hunting legally. I have seen first hand the gratitude of these people in being fed and given money, in order to survive in a country that is being destroyed by their own government.

In the last couple of years, the corrupt govt. has taken over legal farms and is not maintaining the wildlife and is hunting illegally. It is the African govt. that is corrupt, not the american hunters.

Me think litty has her facts straight.

I think Philbert says a lot about the mentality of hunters in general. Thanks for enlightening us, Phil. I hope the FBI is monitoring this channel; possibly a clue to an unsolved crime or two!

Really. A little about hunting, but mostly an expose on someone's extremely low self-esteem and internalized same-gender loathing.

When I want to feel better about myself, I go for a walk or call a friend.

And while Ms. Buchanan and some of her pals may indeed be hunting legally, my point, clearly stated, was that many Americans are not. And that many of those who are are are giving tacit approval to the takeover of land from people of color.

It's really difficult, I know, to read what is there instead of what is in your head.

i don't think I misread the following comments: "...eventually, the Catherine Buchanans will be big game and will be hanging from meat hooks." "Now, THAT would be poetic justice."

"I can't wait until there's a name attached to this idiot. God help her sorry ass."

"...to keep creeps like Cathering Buchanan from slaughtering our wildlife."

"Let'em know what bastards they are!"

Sounds to me like people are ready to hunt ms. buchanan, and are unfairly accusing her of crimes I know for a fact she did not commit. She is not hunting illegally or poaching.

While there are others who may be hunting illegally, there are also americans hunting illegally in the US. In addition, Americans are wiping out the wildlife in America, and they aren't using guns. They are bulding big homes, driving big cars, and polluting and destroying the wilderness. Think about what you do in your daily life.

There are many more atrocities happening in Africa then a handful of big game hunters - who are contributing HUGE amounts of money to the economy and preservation of wildlife.

Too bad you don't show such shock and horror at what is happening to the people of Zimbabwe, and Africa in general. The people in Zim are starving and dying and are being kicked off their land (well, out of their homes).

Most big game hunters are very wealthy and educated and know what is happening in Africa. Most hunt legally and on legal reservations. Those who don't are the same people who do illegal things in the US.

As I said before, it is the govt. of Zim that is corrupt and destroying the country. The attention should be focused on fixing that problem - before the govt. destroys all of it's people.

It's really easy, I know, to accuse people of things they are not doing and to make sweeping generalizations.

I don't get what being up on the conditions in Zimbabwe have to do with big game hunting. Sounds like a diversion. I do actually know about what's going on in Africa, because I keep up on world affairs. I also send money to help them, and send pleas to their government (which I honestly do realize probably go unheeded).

Of course our government, big business, corporations, etc. contribute to the widespread slaughter of wildlife, or displacement of them because of loss of their habitats, and more. That's why I spend money and time fighting them through wildlife groups, GreenPeace, etc.

That being said, Anon., what's your point? Seems to me, you just insist on justifying murdering innocent animals because somewhere along the way you decided that that's what defines a "man." Well, it doesn't. Shooting and killing is easy. It's also cowardly. NOT "manly."

IN any case, there is something that seems very fundamentally wrong about a person who enjoys killing anything, be it animals or people.

I suspect "Anonymous" is really "Philbert", whose blog not only justifies killing, he likes a veritable bloodbath for Jesus!Killing animals for Jesus.

He is dressed like Elvis and lists one of his favorite books is one on fighting off homosexual urges.

It seems to me that perhaps Anon./Philbert has some issues with his sexuality and is making everyone around him (innocent animals, anyway) pay for his self-hate. I find it sad for him, but even sadder for his victims.

Anon, you are using what others posted to refute what I said. I appreciate a good argument, but not when someone attributes others' comments to me in order to make a point.

You are free to argue the separate issue of whether big-game hunting is ever justified, but only within the context of someone's having introduced that argument. I did not introduce it.

Granted, Anon, I did make the meathook comment, but my intention was really to imply that all of humans could be hanging on meathooks. But yes, I am repelled by killing, and the world could be fed many times over easily without killing animals.

And by the way, if you had bothered to read almost any month's worth of my blog, which has been online for 3 1/2 years, you would see clearly my horror about what is happening to the people of Africa--over and over. You would also find it in numerous articles I have published.

Facts do get in the way, I know.

My comments were directed, initially to the others who posted on your site, not necessarily yours. You replied to my resopnse to the others, and I inturn replied to you. I was more astonished at the comments attacking ms. buchanan, and was responding to those.

I only discovered your site from the article, and only now realized that your comments were coming from your site.

I am not a hunter, nor am I a sexually frustrated male.

I think knowing about the conditions in africa has a lot to do with big game hunting - when you personally attack the hunters and accuse them of illegal behavior. And do not know about the financial benefits that big hunting contributes.

I am also suprised that so many of you are attacking americans, when big game hunters come from all over the world, including africa.

And while many of you do not understand why people enjoy hunting, that is your right. There are many people who do enjoy it, it has been around since the beginning of man.

I jsut don't understand comments like these:
"I can't wait until there's a name attached to this idiot. God help her sorry ass."

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5:57 AM

I believe I am safely speaking for the others when I say that we do not understand the enjoyment of hunting because we cannot fathom how someone can take pleasure from ending the life of another sentient being.
