Because they're going to The Hague for Model UN, where "all the other kids will be using drugs and drinking." It's a DOD school, so that's why I called the ACLU. Turns out going to the conference is required for class, so it's not an extracurricular activity.
My big objection is that they're sending the message to these kids that they are expecting them to drink/use drugs, and my first thought would be, "why am I not doing that if everyone else is?!"
And then there's the irony that these kids are there debating human rights issues while being drug tested and losing their own dignity.
Yes, and US govt employees here pretty much have to send their kids there unless they can pay 30k to go to a private American school (British high schools are just too different from the American system). It's a small school, and she's done well in that environment, but I'm pretty disappointed with this latest.

Oddly enough, I called them yesterday. My daughter is being drug tested. I'm not happy.

Why is she being drug-tested, Kathy?

That's ridiculous.
What is DOD?

Diane, I think she's referring to Department of Defense.

Oh...I didn't think it was that DOD. They have schools?
