Possibly the most whacked quote of the last decade

I was visiting Daily Pepper, and picked up this gem from 1999--Tom DeLay's response to the Columbine shootings:

Guns have little or nothing to do with juvenile violence. The causes of youth violence are working parents who put their kids into daycare, the teaching of evolution in the schools, and working mothers who take birth control pills.

That is so ridiculous it's funny. I love when the fundies show their true colors of sexism, idiocy, and classism. The only thing this quote needs is a dash of racism. Of course, when you're blaming women for two of the three things you say, maybe that can count for the racism. I wonder how many people in his district would actually agree with this.

Hmmm, that must be the explaination behind the murder of Michael and Cathyrn Borden.

I agree with Jennifer -- that's just too bizarre to be anything but funny. Not the guns! It was the DAYCARE! And the BIRTH CONTROL PILLS!

These people just don't live on planet reason, do they?
