"Please let us know if you will be able to attend the inspection, and what your entree will be if you can attend"

This was the invitation issued for the levee inspections by the Orleans Levee Board's Chief Engineer. Like most New Orleans events, it appears to have been about the food, as much as anything else. Those in attendance did a drive-by "inspection," then settled down for a luncheon of such delicacies as crab cake with champagne dill sauce and white chocolate mousse with a raspberry coulis. The citizens got water. Lots of it.
