Harold Pinter uses his Nobel acceptance to tell the truth

Thank you for posting this story. I loved how Pinter, in his acceptance speech, decried American politicians' use of language to lull the American public into a sense of well-being while setting forth on their campaigns to brutalize anyone and everyone they see as enemies.

"It's a scintillating stratagem", Pinter said. "Language is actually employed to keep thought at bay."

Language as an obscurer of reality... used by American leaders to anesthetize the public. Silent as we're hung with a velvet rope.

Thank you, Harold Pinter. We are all in your debt.
