Bush campaign paid large legal fees to Harriet Miers' law firm

George W. Bush's gubernatorial campaigns paid $163,000 to the Texas law firm of Locke, Purnell, Rain and Harrell during 1998 and 1999. At the time, U.S. Supreme Court justice nominee Harriet Miers worked for Locke, Purnell, which later merged with another firm to create Locke, Liddell & Sapp. The White House, citing attorney-client privilege, refuses to release details about the legal work done for Bush.

That is the shame of shames. Not the campaign stuff, although, it is wrong and I'm sure there is dirt. The shame is the republicans made Bill Cllinton's sex life everyday talk. Everyone knew about everything from the spot on the black dress to the cigars to the shape and so forth of his penis. It strikes me bizarre that it's okay to know those most personal of things about a man, but we can't know why the president hired an attorney. Furthermore, it would seem that being the president should eliminate confindentiality of his legal affairs. What a farce.
