Women's History Month--Honoring Sarah Weddington
In 1972, when she was just 25 years old, Dr. Sarah Weddington became the first woman from Austin to be elected to the Texas House of Representatives. The next year, she made history by successfully arguing Roe v. Wade before the U.S. Supreme Court.
From 1978 to 1981, Weddington served as Assistant to the President of the United States. In this capacity , she worked on a variety of women's issues, including the campaign to ratify the ERA.
Weddington is the author of A Question of Choice, is a popular speaker, and is also an adjunct professor at the University of Texas.
