A joke that "got out of hand"
That is how both one of the arsonists and the federal authorities describe the torching of nine Baptist churches in Alabama. Unfortunately, no one has explained the joke to me--you know, the funny part. And it seems to me that the "it was just a prank-we were just having some fun-you know how kids are" explanation for crime is getting more and more popular.
Where did young adults learn that setting fires is a joke? That must be a hell of a joke book--the same one that has you rolling on the floor over beating up homeless people, sexually assaulting young women, setting off firecrackers inside frogs, and beating up gays.

Today, a young girl made the statement that all homosexuals are repulsive to god and should be banned from working at any job where they come in contact with children. I asked her what her views were on obese people, since she is very obese. She said that Bush is her hero and the best president in the world and he should get rid of abortions and women's rights and gay rights. I tried to reason with her but soon learned that she was not hearing anything that I was saying. I finally shook my head and moved to another table. She even carries a little Bible around and tried to support her words with scripture, which, by the way, she couldn't. It hurts to see such anger and hate in anyone, especially when that someone is so young. She has listened to her parents and the preacher for so long that their rhetoric seems fair and logical and loving, not what is really is, spewing hate and judgment. It's really sad that she is not alone.

Well, if she was at school and women's rights are removed, she won't be able to attend anymore. If she was at work and women's rights are removed, she won't be able to have a job anymore. If you see her again, you can remind her of that.
