You don't have to be a liberal to prefer your environment and children not be poisoned

I live in a community in which a lot of people garden organically or use integrative methods. Our school system uses integrative pest control. This is also an ultra-conservative community, with a combination of rural super-Christians and Republicans who fled the city for all the reasons Republicans flee cities.

The fact that my community possesses the aforementioned characteristics strengthens my belief that one of the biggest errors (don't make me count them all) made by the Democratic Party is its failure to constantly remind everyone that this White House is committed to poisoning the children, not to mention the rest of us.

The lowering of pollution standards and the virtual destruction of the EPA would make wonderful campaign issues. Maybe it's time for the Green Party to force its way into the newsrooms. Well, it's way past time for that, anyway.

I've been saying just this, in fact during the last campaign I worked on for an environmentally committed candidate.

Most suburban moms know their kids' IQ scores as well as they know their address. Tell them the effect of mercury--to lower IQ scores--and they'll be alarmed enough to vote for a "liberal" even.
